PWN presents Social Media and Protecting Your Reputation

Mat Wilcox, CEO and Founder of Wilcox Group, one of Canada’s largest national independent public relations firms, will talk about how social media is quietly but firmly changing business. Social media thrives on multi-way communications that no one controls, yet everyone influences. While online applications such as Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn provide great opportunities to acquire new business, they also provide ways to share negative or slanderous results. As businesspeople, you need to develop and implement online strategies to protect and manage your brand and reputation.

Mat Wilcox founded Wilcox Group in 1995 and has advised business leaders and managed communications and strategy in numerous crises situations.  For the past two years, Mat has been named as one of Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 by the Women’s Executive Network.

Note: Over the past few years, the PWN group has grown substantially.  Our mailing list is up to 800 members, and more members have consistently been attending meetings then ever before.  The success of our growth  has provided our members with increased opportunities for networking while still in a comfortable, warm environment.

Despite our growth, our meeting fees remain well below the fees typically charged by other business groups in Vancouver owing to our not-for-profit structure and the continued generosity and support of Fasken Martineau.  As a result, our meeting fee is directly reflective of and is charged only to cover our meeting costs which are generally for catering. Our meeting costs are generally determined by the number of members who register for each meeting in advance.

So that we may continue to offer value to our members for a modest fee and ensure that our meeting costs are covered through our events, we ask that you please provide payment prior to the session when you RSVP in advance, instead of paying at the door on the night of the meeting. Should you register for the meeting and not be able to attend refunds will not be provided and a credit will not be held.  This is because we will already have accounted for your attendance in placing our catering order prior to the meeting.

Therefore, your reservation may be confirmed only after our receipt of your meeting fee payment. Cheque should be made payable to “The Professional Women’s Network” and sent to the attention of Hayley Renfrew, c/o Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP, 2900-550 Burrard St, Vancouver, BC V6C OA3. Please ensure that you include your e-mail address and other contact information with your cheque. A receipt for payment will be issued at the event.

If you received this meeting notice from a friend, and wish to continue receiving e-mail notices from PWN, please send an email to Hayley Renfrew at rsvpvan@fasken.com with your contact details.
