DNA is run by a dynamic group of women who volunteer their time to ensure our events are a success and are passionate about connecting business professionals in Vancouver, BC.
I joined DNA in 2015, looking for something different. I loved that DNA events were social-first, affordable, and much less intimidating than attending a typical “networking event” with hundreds of strangers! DNA has offered me the opportunity to be part of a friendly, diverse group of professional women who are committed to building their networks based on genuine friendships. As the current Chair of DNA, I am responsible for the continuation of our non-profit. That means I’m here to be the bottom line for anything our members need. My usual activities include running monthly board meetings, overseeing and supporting all board functions, and working with our lawyers on all legal issues and filings. From time to time I also interview potential new board members, help coach new directors into their new roles, or take on the responsibilities of any directors that need extra assistance.
In my day job, I am an Investment Planning Specialist for high net worth private clients within Connor, Clark & Lunn Private Capital. I am in charge of analysing and constructing investment plans to help clients pre-experience what their wealth can look like, using various time horizons and asset allocations. Outside of work you’ll find me enjoying a local happy hour, trying a new gym activity (currently spin), hanging with the penguins at the Vancouver Aquarium, or in search of the perfect croissant.
If you have any questions about DNA, feel free to connect with me via email.
I joined DNA Vancouver in May of 2014 and became VP of Communications in November of 2014. I was initially interested in DNA because of the numerous social activities, including the opportunity to try out new restaurants in Vancouver. As VP Communications, I’m responsible for social media and website writing and posting. I also recently started an exciting new job as a Marketing Strategist at Mustang Survival while I had previously been working as a Marketing Manager at Savox Communications. My education background is in Marketing (Management Certificate program at BCIT) and English (MA from Youngstown State in Youngstown, Ohio).
I currently live in Chinatown and enjoy going out for meals with friends (and DNA!) and love all cuisines, especially Thai and Mexican food – the spicier the better! Some of my other interests include personal blogging, cooking (which I blog about), running, and yoga. I am also an avid outdoors person, I would say I enjoy city life and country life in equal parts.
My love affair with DNA started after a Google search gone wrong. It was love at first click. DNA checked every box in a group I didn’t know I was looking for simply by virtue of being social first. Words of wisdom from a mentor then materialized: a professional & personal network of high calibre is unequivocally a game-changer and a deciding factor to a woman’s health, well-being and SUCCESS. My vision in Jennifer’s World was always to be surrounded by diverse people where we could converse about career strategy and exchange ideas, BUT also cultivate connections where I could simply send an email and have a network at my disposal of everything from where to get the best price on kitchen cabinets to what season we should plant tulips. DNA hits the mark. They’ve given me the pleasure of dealing with their Finances as head VP Excel enthusiast.
Unprofessionally, I work in the adrenaline-inducing world of projects as a PMO resource; providing Program level Project Analyst services to enterprise-scale Programs for a BC Crown Corp. Professionally, I am an advocate of autonomy, lover of life, nurturer of non-conformity and a joy junkie. Basically, I do what I want.
I was lucky to have the opportunity to join DNA after connecting with Kelsey, our Chair. After hearing about the incredible opportunities and relationships DNA offers, I knew I had to be a part of this organization. As the VP Digital, I am responsible for the digital branding across our web channels, including the site and social. I’ll be making sure that you know what is happening and when, whether it is Facebook, Twitter or Instagram and making sure your FOMO is engaged with some post-event photos!
I have a passion for people and am drawn to the go-getters, the creatives, and forward-thinkers who know what they want out of their one life. I am currently a part of Lush’s ecommerce team, working as a digital marketing specialist (and bubble bath expert). I have an MBA with a focus in non-profit management and am currently back to school learning about the world of project management. In my downtime, I enjoy hiking, reading, yoga, and spending quality time with my husband and birds.
I joined DNA in 2016 as I was looking for an opportunity to network and engage with a group of like-minded, passionate, and interesting women. Taking on the role of VP Events is a perfect opportunity to put my planning and organizing skills to good use. I’m looking forward to coordinating exciting and unique events in the year ahead!
I’m currently the Manger, Administration for Mitacs, an innovation-focused, national not-for profit that designs and delivers research and training programs. My professional background is in policy, operations, and governance, and in my current role I focus on the management of my department, the planning and organization of corporate events, and the management of corporate projects. I have a BA in English Literature from the University of British Columbia, as well as a Certificate in Professional Writing and Business Communication from Simon Fraser University. I am a member of the University Women’s Club, and currently sit on the Status of Women and Human Rights Committee.
In my personal life, I am an enthusiastic home cook and baker, and am always on the look-out for delicious new restaurants. I am a book worm, and completely unable to leave a bookstore without purchasing a new addition to my extensive collection. I love being a Vancouverite, and especially appreciate the close proximity to the ocean, the mountains, and the Okanagan.
I had been quietly stalking DNA on Facebook for a few years, never committing to attending an event but always intrigued and impressed with the selection of venues. Finally in 2016 the timing was right for me to venture out to my first event – lunch at Glowbal – and I was sold. I had such a great time chatting to the women, getting to know them and overall enjoying the atmosphere that I realized I wanted this to be a regular activity in my life. I’ve since met some great friends through DNA and consistently look forward to our events and the venues around the city we explore – I have definitely found new favorite dinner spots and my list of places to go back to keeps expanding! The beauty of DNA is I have not only found some great business contacts and women from all different industries, but I have made new girlfriends who I enjoy seeing regularly over a glass of wine!
As a residential Realtor in Vancouver, I take my skills of networking, meeting and connecting with new people, and apply it to my DNA Board position of VP Membership. I am your go-to gal when it comes to joining DNA, learning more about us, and keeping in contact. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out – I’d love to meet for a coffee and chat!
I joined DNA recently, the result of a search for a networking group after transitioning into a new career. I was hoping to find a diverse group of professionals in Vancouver who I could learn from and share best practices with in a social setting. DNA has proven to be a wonderful opportunity to connect with other like-minded women and forge genuine relationships.
As a Wealth Management Associate at Scotia Wealth I develop financial plans for clients, providing peace of mind for retirement, as well as providing tools for people to reach their personal and financial goals in life. During my free time, you can find me on the trails with my dog, trying new restaurants, and taking advantage of all the incredible activities the west coast has to offer.
VP Partnerships is a new role at DNA, and I’m excited to see where I can take it.
